About the City Council
The mission of the city council is to provide policy direction to municipal staff for the implementation of municipal services to the citizens of St. John by adopting ordinances, resolutions, and policies, and by appointing members to citizen advisory boards and commissions. The five-member council and mayor are elected at large to four-year staggered terms.

Council member Mark Bryant was elected to St. John City Council on April 2, 2013. Bryant is a graduate of Santa Ana High School, Santa Ana California. He is a Marine Veteran who served honorably in the United Stated Marine Corps (1985-1993).
After receiving his Certified Mechanical Inspectors certification from the American Society for Quality, Bryant worked in the quality assurance field for 4 years in manufacturing prior to moving to Kansas in 2005 to be closer to family.
He has worked as a Para Educator/Vocational Instructor in the Community Based Training program at St. John-Hudson USD 350 for the past four years and is also currently the night time clerk for Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library.
Bryant volunteers and serves his community through the St. John Community Involvement Program and the St. John Science Museum.
Mark was appointed by Mayor Jill Stimatze on August 2nd, 2011 to complete the term of a resigned council member and was re-elected for a 4-year term April 16th, 2013.
